Immersion Of The Asian Caisson Into The Final Tower Location Completed
The Asian caisson of the 1915Çanakale Bridge was transported to Şekerkaya in Lapseki in an 8 hour-long towing operation.
The Asian tower caisson, which is 74 m wide, 83.3 m long, 20 m high and weighing 54.800 tons was transported to its final position and immersion operation was carried out in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turhan. The immersion operation of the caisson started with the instruction of the Minister, performed with four tugboats and lasted nearly two days.
